Our Top Achievements and Blog Posts for 2011

2011 was a great year for Eco York and we can’t wait to dive in deep in 2012!

Our Top Achievements:

We started off the year developing a website for a Local TV show Eco Means, which their TV shows are about providing a greener way to live your life by taking small steps. Eco York is excited what 2012 means to our partnership with this TV show.

Eco York also joined a local networking group Professional Referral Exchange in the spring and was elected Social Chair right away.  Shortly after joining we started development on our newest product on the market Ecoferral. Ecoferral is a web-based referral and communication tool for businesses and networking groups. Ecoferral allows you to send referrals online within your networking group and keep track of the referrals. We continue to grow the product, and recently added the ability to create Online Surveys as well as offer Coupons to potential customers.

In 2011 we also started our Computer Recycling Program. Throughout the year with your help we’ve manage to recycle over 485 lbs of computers and electronics!

Our Favorite Blog Posts of 2011:

We have a lot of Blog posts we really enjoyed writing during 2011, but we thought we’d pick our top 3.

3. In March we wrote Customer Service Leads to more Referrals. We really live by this Blog post.  Businesses do better when their customers are happy.  By not answering an email, or even delaying a response, you’re really putting yourself in a bad position when it comes time to do business with that customer in the future.

2. In June we wrote 5 ways to stay cool this summer. Eco York really enjoys writing these types of blog posts because we’re not only learning ways to save ourselves, but we’re helping others save as well.  This blog posts goes over simple ways to save during a hot and heated summer day.

1. And our Favorite Blog post this year is Develop a website that saves time and money. We wrote this blog post because we enjoy writing these types of applications.  If there’s a way to save money by automating a process, that really excites us.

We really enjoyed 2011 and appreciate all of the new partnerships and clients we’ve obtained.

Everyone at Eco York wishes you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Thanks for reading!

Goodbye 2010 | How to save in 2011

Happy New Year 2011!

As the year comes to an end, it’s important to set clear financial goals for 2011.  Economic times are tough, and that means it’s time to cut the fat out of your bad financial habits and improve your financial stability for the new year.

Here are some ways to save going into 2011.

1. Make a Personal Budget. By setting a budget and sticking to it in 2011 you’ll be surprised how much you actually save.  Make sure you don’t stray from your budget, and avoid any temptations to go on a 1 day shopping spree vente de cialis pas cher.  Review your previous credit card statement, and you’ll most likely find a few items you could have done without.

2. Pay yourself first. If you’re fortunate enough to have a job going into 2011, make sure you set aside some of that paycheck in a savings account first.  Once some of that money is already put away, it’s hard not to save.

3. Review your monthly bills and trim them where you can.  If you pay for cable, see which channels you can remove to lower your monthly bill, if you can’t get rid of cable all together.  Check your local utilities to see if they offer any incentive plans. Meted for instance is rolling out an Energy Savings plan called Easy Green where you can save up to $60/year and also help the environment.

4. Carpool.  If you have to travel far for work (or even if it’s nearby), find out who lives close to you and setup a carpool schedule.  Not only will you save money on gas, but you’ll be helping the environment as well. With Gas prices likely to increase in 2011 and beyond, it’s important to find ways to save money on Gas.

5. Review your mutual fund expense ratios.  Often times certain stocks you may have will have higher expense ratios than they may be paying out.  It’s important to review these funds / stocks on a yearly basis and assess which funds might be worth exchanging for others.  If you have a financial advisor, setup an appointment now for the new year.  You’ll be glad you did.

6. Shop and Eat Smart.  It might seem easier to buy fast food on the go because of those “dollar menus” but in reality it’s going to cost you more in the long run.  Not only is eating Fast Food not good for you, you probably will be spending money on gym memberships.  If you buy food from your local food market you can purchase food for the whole week for less than you’ll most likely spend eating fast food everyday.  Spend your saturday morning purchasing from your local food market (or whenever they’re open), and spend one night a week preparing food.  If you spend just 2 hours, one day a week preparing your meals for the week (and storing them properly of course), you will be eating healthy and also be helping your local community.

7. Check your local Newspapers for Sales. Often times something you’re looking for or need to purchase in a particular month, could end up being on sale.  By purchasing items on Sale or on Clearance you could save quite a bit of money.

8. Save when you go out.  If you would like to have a movie night, go in the afternoon.  Typically it’s cheaper and you’ll more than likely get better seats than in the evening, when it’s most likely going to be packed. Also, look online for special deals when either going to the movie theater, or out to eat.

9. Recycle. It is possible to make money by recycling.  It might take a lot of cans to make a couple of bucks, but that money can go a long way when you stick to your saving habits.  Keep any containers that might be reusable.  Some containers you might be able to fill up with Gatorade for the kids, which is cheaper and better for them than a can of soda.

10. Recharge your Batteries.  Instead of buying regular batteries which will just end up in the landfills afterwords, purchase rechargeable. You’ll be saving the amount of batteries going to landfills (thus helping the environment) as well as save a trip you might have taken to purchase new ones at the store.

So going into 2011 start to think about where you can improve your Health, Financial Stability, and overall Future Wealth.  Make 2011 the year where you “trim the fat” rather than “put on the pounds”.  This is your year to shine.

Have a Safe and Prosperous New Year!

Why York? | Location Location Location

When someone asks where you live, one of the first questions you might get asked is “Why?”.  This is always a good question, and can sometimes contain a lot of different answers. Sometimes these answers can be vague, or unclear. However in York this answer should be obvious. Location, Location, Location.

This is probably something you’ve heard quite a number of times throughout your life. Although from someone living outside of York they might not understand your logic.  Let’s try to go through the reasons why York is a great location!

Close proximity to other popular cities / destinations!

York has many advantages, one of which is being in close proximity to numerous locations.  We are only 38 minutes from Lancaster, 46 minutes from Gettysburg, 48 minutes from Baltimore, 35 minutes from Harrisburg, and 37 minutes from Mechanicsburg.  Those are just a few of the close cities within a short distance.

We are also only 3 hours and 40 minutes from Ocean City, MD , 3 hours and 33 minutes from New York City, and 2 hours from Philadelphia!

Public Transportation via the Lancaster Train Station can also help you get to some of these destinations in a shorter amount of time.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

Cost of Living is relatively low!

It’s a fact that the cost of living in York PA is relatively low compared to the potential income one could make.

This probably contributes to being one of the biggest growing Hot Spots in the Northeast!

Picturesque views!

Professional and Free lance photographers would agree that PA is a beautiful state, especially when it comes to taking photos in the Fall.  With Rolling hills, and plenty of nature hot spots, there’s plenty of picture taking going on in this beautiful area.

Outdoor Activities galore!

Do you enjoy Kayaking, Biking, Hiking, Walking, or winter sports?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you might want to consider relocating to the York area.  With Ski Roundtop just a hop skip and jump away, you can ski all winter long!

We also have many parks in the area for Kayaking, Biking, Walking, and Hiking activities.
Rockey Ridge
Lake Redman/ William H. Kain County Park
Codorus State Park
Pinchot State Park
Richard M. Nixon County Park
York Heritage Rail Trail
John Rudy Park (also has one of the best dog parks around!)

So when you’re asked the question “Why did you choose York?”.  Remember “Location, Location…”, and don’t forget “Location”!
